Christie L. Houlihan is Senior Director and Counsel at Houlihan-Parnes Realtors, LLC. Her work focuses on development, financing and legal representation for the company’s portfolio of over 8.5 million square feet of office, retail, industrial and mixed-use space and over 25,000 multifamily units across the United States. She is the first woman and first member of the fifth generation of Houlihans to work for the family’s commercial real estate business which was founded over 125 years ago. The firm is engaged in acquisition, disposition, property and construction management, consulting services, leasing and mortgage brokerage for all commercial real estate asset classes, both for the company’s portfolio and for third parties.
Prior to joining Houlihan-Parnes, Houlihan worked as a commercial real estate attorney at Morrison Cohen LLP, Cassin & Cassin LLP and Zukerman Gore Brandeis & Crossman LLP in New York. Christie has experience representing clients in a wide array of commercial real estate transactions, including the acquisition and disposition of commercial property and the representation of commercial and retail landlords and tenants in lease negotiations nationwide. She has also represented institutional lenders and borrowers in real estate finance transactions, including multi-property and multi-state financings, 1031 exchanges and construction financing of commercial and multifamily properties. Christie has also advised clients on real estate aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.
Houlihan began her career as the Assistant to the Campaign Manager on Hillary Clinton’s 2006 Senate re-election campaign, and as a Legislative Clerk on the staff of the Committee on Energy and Commerce in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she worked to reauthorize and expand health care coverage for 9 million children under the Children’s Health Insurance Program. As a law student, Christie won high honors at global Moot Court competitions, including first place at the International Chamber of Commerce’s Commercial Mediation Competition in Paris in 2011.
She received an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and a juris doctorate degree from Fordham University School of Law. She holds a certificate in Real Estate Finance and Development from MIT.
She is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, the New York chapter of CREW, an international organization of women in commercial real estate, and is a member of the President’s Council of Fordham University. Christie serves on the Eleanor’s Legacy Innovation Council, an organization supporting women political candidates throughout New York State, and sits on the Board of Directors of New York Edge, a nonprofit that provides educational, sports and arts after-school and summer programming to over 25,000 children in Westchester and New York City public schools. In 2018 she received the “Rising Star” award from the Business Council of Westchester, and was named to City and State New York’s “Westchester Watch List” of ten up-and-coming leaders in Westchester County.
